Amber Benson Playing a Vampire!?!

So yes, you read that right... Amber Benson of 'Buffy' fame will be playing a vampire in a new show instead of slaying vampires. :)

If you didn't know, Amber has officially attached herself to play Amelie (the founder of Morganville) in an adaptation of The Morganville Vampires book series into a web series called Morganville: The Series. This show is being produced by one of the creators of PINK.

But before they celebrate too much, the Kickstarter campaign has to fund first. Today they crossed the $25k mark towards the goal of $75k... so they're 1/3rd of the way.

Here is some nice coverage of Amber's involvement in the campaign.

And here is the link to the actual Kicstarter campaign page.

They've got some really interesting rewards too. For only $40 you can get a digital copy of the script, exclusive postcard artwork and an HD download of Season 1.  Or for those with deeper pockets, the $500 level you get all of the above plus a complete set of all 15 Morganville books autographed by Rachel Caine the author, along with a DVD, a poster and... well, it's a lot.

So please help if you can!  A tweet or FB post is almost as good as becoming a financial backer. Almost. :)

Thanks!

Morganville: The Series | Kickstarter Campaign

From the creator of PINK...

You've probably heard of Kickstarter because of the Veronica Mars or Zach Braff movies that raised millions of dollars recently to fund their projects. Well, I'm involved in one now too. But we're not Hollywood millionaires looking for handouts. We're indie filmmakers looking for handouts.

In all seriousness, Kickstarter is a great way to crowd-fund all kinds of projects.

I am fortunate to be working with the international best-selling author Rachel Caine in bringing her book series THE MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES to life as an online TV series.... and we could use your help.

Here's the link to our Kickstarter campaign:

We're attempting to raise $75,000 to fund the essential expenses of shooting one season (six episodes, approx. 45-60 mins of content).  That primarily being cast/crew, equipment rental, post-production, visual FX, music and of course the rewards (incentives) for contributing.  Speaking of these, there are some really unique ones that involve sock puppets and ponies (not really, but maybe).

Here's the campaign video (also on the Kickstarter page):

Morganville: The Series | Kickstarter Campaign Video from Blake Calhoun on Vimeo.

So please check this project out and help if you can. Even a Facebook share or tweet is a big help. Although money helps a lot more.

This is the first of 50 or so post you'll see from me on this. I'm kidding. :)

Continuum Streamy Nomination

The Streamy Awards announced their nominations today and our sister show Continuum received one nom for Best Editing!

Very excited about this and thier 7 IAWTV Award nominations too. What a great way to start off 2013...  The IAWTV Awards are on January 8th in Las Vegas and the Streamy Awards are in Hollywood on February 17th.

One really cool trend at the Streamy Award was there are LOTS of sci-fi shows being recognized.... Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, Drone, H+, Cybergeddon and of course Continuum. :) Great company to be in, especially because Continuum is an ultra low budget show. These other series are multi-million dollar productions.  The rumor is Halo was $10 million to produce!!

Be sure to check out the complete list of nominees here.

Genre-tainment Interview

The creator of Pink (Blake Calhoun) did an in-depth interview this week for a blog radio show called Genre-tainment. There he talks a lot about Pink - its early days, the main run of the show... and it's future (yes, there might be a future!). :)

The interview also focusing on his latest web series Continuum, a sci-fi thriller that stars one of the leads from Pink - Brad Hawkins (he played adult Nate's beau "Dante" in Seasons 2 and 3).  As Blake put it, "we talk about web series, assassins and sci-fi".... and we think you'll like it.

JTS.TV and New Series "Continuum"

A new sci-fi series from the creators of PINK - called Continuum - is now playing at JTS.TV. This is a new online indie TV network... think Netflix meets HBO for independent web series. It's a subscription-based site that is only $3.99/mo. or $39.99/year. And the content creators get 50% of the revenues, so it's very filmmaker friendly.

Currently there are 4 episodes of Continuum on the site, with new episodes rolling out each Tuesday. And, there are also a dozen or so other series on there that you'll have full access to - on your computer, phone, tablet and coming soon Roku box for your TV.

You can do a Free Trial here of the full site:

Or if you'd prefer to just watch a free Continuum episode and then (hopefully) sign up please go here:

We know money is tight these days and there are tons of entertainment choices out there, but we think you'll find this to be an affordable fun alternative (plus you get to support some cool indie work!). :)

Thank you in advance and we hope you check it out!
